WHAT:
Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival 2017 (秋月明夜亮晚晴) presents an exciting weekend of festive offerings for the young and young at heart.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of programmes such as mooncake and pomelo tasting, snowskin mooncake workshops, lantern walkabouts, guided tours, craft workshops and evening music performances at SYSNMH.
In addition, the memorial hall will once again be putting up larger-than-life lantern installations on its outdoor lawn, drawing inspiration from the custom of lantern-carrying during Mid-Autumn Festival.
The five installations will be styled after iconic designs comprising the Dragon, Rabbit, Goldfish, Rooster and Butterfly lanterns, which will be on display within the memorial hall’s compound from 26 September to 15 October 2017.
The use of these lantern designs serves as a reminder of the way the festival was celebrated in the past and present, evoking thoughts of how such customs have evolved with time.
