MOLLY ROFFEY’S IRISH PUB
On our usual route to town on bus 197 passing by Bras basah road, we have been eyeing this bustling Irish pub for the longest time. Mainly its because Molly has ALWAYS being crowded with people during lunch peak hours, white collars huddling after work hours, and even on weekends where families gather for breakfast.
What so good about this greenish hat Irish pub that lured so many locals and expats to scurry and queue for its seats?
AT DORSETT
We had our privilege chance to visit Dorsett Singapore for a review along new bridge road, and were earnestly invited to the fairly new Irish pub since its opening last year. The floor crews warmly led us into the capacious restaurant/pub to our table. It was off lunch hours with lesser crowd, which was prefect as we had the best seats with minimum noise from the neighboring patrons.
After we settled down, we realized that apart from the dining area and bar tops, there’s another separate zone for darts game. Considering there will be soccer games and beer happy hours at night, friends and family can spend some bonding time with more activity to do.
Smoked duck pizza was slightly salty to our taste but the crust was prefect, and we love the size of it, simply can feed 2-3 pax.
Not the usual lamb stew we expected, as there were just tender meat that melts in the mouth and no thigh bone. Tasty to our liking, if you are loyal meat eater, do give this a try!
We gave the bar-ra-mu-ddi a thumbs up! The seafood meat was tender and nicely done, not too dry nor tough. Along with its veges, the classic French preparation for fish known as “à la meunière” rings of simplicity and great taste.
We requested for their signature small bites which came hot in the basket. The shrimp paste was aromatic, and when dipped into the sizzling hot (spicy) coriander chili, combination was heavenly (we meant smoke coming out from our ears). Definitely best pair with cold Heineken or Tiger (recommended by Molly’s).
Lastly on our table was the Tem- PU-ra whitebait served with wasabi mayo. Highly recommended finger bites for large serving groups. Crispy fried fresh baits was also our favorite and we can’t seem to stop after the first.
Indeed was a satisfying meal of that day, and now right writing about this, we are thinking of heading back to Molly’s for another round. Exclusively for Dorsett Singapore in house guests, 15% off àla carte menu ( Takeaways included. )
