We say the best thing to do with your family is the excitement of planning for a vacation! If your longing for some sandy white beach chill out were not met in the past year, Familystaysg Team has a quintessential destination in mind – Turi Beach Resort in Batam. Back by a gorgeous nature scenic away from the hubbub of the city (include entertainment and activities for your kids and priceless relaxation time for you), it could be your best indulgence experience for the ultimate family vacation for 2016!
Unwind in the beautiful green landscape of the tranquil tropical village of Batam, where Turi Beach Resort is nestled within the vicinity of Nongsa Resort, choose between the modern and minimalist Tirta Wing or the refurbished Riani Wing for the luxe sanctuary of traditional Riau Balinese.
Simply it takes at most 40 mins to get off the red dot, sink your toes into the Lifestyle Beach Resort and rejuvenate in the unspoilt fine beaches without getting on a plane! Best part – you get to wake up to an awesome sea facing view in all 140 rooms and suites perfectly spread over the beachfront and hillside. So we headed off to Turi Beach Resort for a bit of a breather and while scooping up on the staycation deets (for you!) we were charmed by the beauty of Batam, Here’s why.. (don’t forget to find out the giveaway right after you are done with the article)!
NATURE AT YOUR DOORSTEPS
The resort’s timber cottages inspired accommodation – Riani wing rooms have the amazing features of a luxury resort: spacious rooms, extended private balcony, leather daybed, gorgeous beach views, easy access to Riani Beach and Aqua Pool while the suite comes with a separate living area with a large modular sofa plus a lavish Jacuzzi for your spa-inspired bathing experience!
The Tirta wing comes in a contemporary and casual setting for a zen-ish experience that includes a private balcony with idyllic beach views by the sea. This part of the wing leads up to Tirta beach and the Emerald pool. Direct linkway from here to the lobby isn’t as taxing compared to the Riani (we meant stairs!) although buggy rides will be at their standby to get you to your doorsteps.
SEA VIEW RESTAURANTS
If the idea of having meals with a panoramic sea view and sea breeze with the pool in sight sounds neat to you, discover the delish spread of local and international cuisines served at Tamingsari Cafe, 24 hour restaurant featuring delectable Western and Asian dishes(and breakfast!). For more choices, either head over to Nogusaya that offers live station skewers and grill or relish your selections of legit Indonesian cuisine found in Cinta Manis.
Here are some highlights dishes catered for us throughout the day. We were utterly lavished with scrumptious local delights liked beef rendang and ayam penyet for our lunch at IDR200,000 (S$20 per pax).
For dinner, our table was feted with scrummy Butter Rice, Mixed Vegetables Western, Grilled lamb Chop, Grilled chicken Chop, Butter Prawn and Fish with Pesto sauce! An overwhelming selection of western-style seafood along with a galore of grilled meat was worth at IDR 280,000 per pax (S$28)! After, an abundance of fresh fruits was presented to us by the friendly staff to end the night, by which it was the best time for some stroll along the coastline. Which we definitely needed!
Down for breakfast the next day, we had a wholesome and decent buffet spread from local porridges, tasty nasi lemak to the western style of varied types of omelettes, waffles and cornflakes for kids.
BOREDOM IS BANISHED
Put on your summer bikinis along with your communal inflatables and young ones for some splashing fun in the 2 of a kind pools. But if you are out of ideas after the dip, head out to the sea for some adrenaline pumping activities, we say banana boat, Jet Ski, kayak, parasailing, knee boarding or even cycling, golf, paintball, wall climbing to jungle trekking. You can explore the full list at Cabana Club visibly located by the Tirta Beach!
BARS AND BEERS
In need for some relaxation time, don’t miss out the Island bar with the best 360-degree panoramic sea view as well as that of the resort. Kick in for some beers and bar music at 5 pm to 9 pm. To catch up on some chit chat or chill out, you can head back to Yacht Club bar for live band music, large screen and pool tables every Friday and Saturday evening.
RELAXATION
Soak in the pampering hands from the Tspa ‘s practices found across Indonesia and we heard that only local natural ingredients are used in the treatments. Upon arrival of the spa parlor we were sold by its traditional and dim setting, and after a satisfying hour of acupressure strokes, we were rejuvenated from head to toe – fresh and ready for some shopping!
HEADING OUT
Though we would love to fully utilises our time within the resort but for some of you, might want to head out and explore the island, do check with the Front-desk for the availability of taxi and shuttle buses. The duration out to Nagoya Town or Batam Center takes about 40mins ride for the former and 25mins ride for the latter. You can book the taxi for a few hours with a standard price, where the driver waits for you around the mall while you do your shopping.
USEFUL TIPS:
- Time Zone: Batam is GMT+7 which is one hour behind Singapore, do set your watch right when you are on the ferry. ie. check in time is 1400 hours (Batam time)that means 1500 hours (Singapore Time).

- Currency: Many shopping centers and supermarket may takes in Singapore Dollar(SGD) but its highly advisable to use Indonesian Rupiah within the hotels and in the malls.
