With the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theatres this December, we were invited by Sony Picture Singapore and Dream Cruiseline to get onboard to witness the first-ever thematic sailings of this new animated Spider-Man film aboard the Genting Dream for 5 nights with shore excursions to Surabaya & North Bali!
Two kids in tow, we ditched our strollers and land resorts and took a spin over to the spectacular cruise adventure ( an entire week away!! Yay! ) to meet our favorite superheroes Peter Parker, Miles Morales and Spider Gwen in person! Pen down tons of “what to expect” on this biggest & newest cruise ship sailing in Singapore – Genting Dream!
Whether it’s about Spider-Man or Dream Cruiseline, well, as long as its kids-friendly we got it all down here!
DO
(UNLOCK YOUR INNER HERO)
Firstly, gear up for the Spider-Man scavenger hunt scheduled on one of the days of the voyage and receive a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse embossed postcard as a welcome gift from Spider-Man. We didn’t manage to experience the scavenger hunt that should have happened at the pool deck but we heard that participants have to complete different tasks around the ship to collect hints and clues for the Spider-Man hunt. Be the first to catch Spider-Man and win a limited edition Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Combo Premium Set too!
Instead, we witnessed the Spider-Man Fitness Challenge requiring participants to follow the guidance of the Spider people and unlock the hero inside through different challenges, including Spider Maze and web-slinging. We even caught Miles Morales who swing by to take some shots with us during the challenge!

(MEET & GREET)
movie standees dotted around the shipOn the first night of our cruise out of Singapore, the friendly superheroes had a meet and greet session at the Lobby! The crowd was excited to see all the Spider people on board with us, being the first to say hello to the characters from the upcoming movie in December.

As this is the period of the thematic sailing with Spider-Man, the kids got to “catch” them in action everywhere on board! Mr. Peter Parker also has his own web-spinning performance at the end of the Genting Dream signature theatre show – Sonio: The Tales of Two Dreams. We have a close-up viewing of Spider-Man’s signature moves in spectacular acrobatic performances. The more we see them around the more we look forward to watching the movie when it opens on 13 Dec!

One more time was during the media food tasting on board for their thematic afternoon hi-tea time at the Palm Court cafe on deck 19, where we all feast on the delectable pastries and desserts curated from the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse theme! We were so impressed by the upscale cruise culinary delights, we managed to forget about our waistline and chomp down at least one entire set (portion was too big for one person to finish!) .
It was an enjoyable noon, sipping tea and munching away Spider-themed macaroons, cupcakes and sandwiches while the kids played games and took turns snapping shots with the Superheros!
These delectable pastries and desserts can be easily purchased at the Bread Box (cafe) on deck 6, perched right beside the Lobby with a huge TV screen.
There was also supposed to be an archery session at the basketball court but due to last-minute changes, we only could only play some basketball or this popular velcro wall. What you need to do to look like us was to suit up in the velcro costume, then hop onto the inflatable and make your best attempt to jump up and stick yourself to the velcro wall. Can you believe that my son managed to jump higher than the mama here? (Daddy gave him a lift actually!)
The amazing thing we found out about cruising was that as much as the sun was out and about, we didn’t sweat much at all as it was so windy and the ship was on full speed which is going really fast, it was fun being outdoors on the upper deck!
(PARTY TIME WITH SPIDER-MAN)
It’s been ages since we went to a club so even being in a kids party time was so happening for us! A kids-friendly zouk out session happened on our last night onboard at their Zouk Beach Club located on Deck 17. All the kids went wild on their feet (can’t stop the feeling!) when Spider-Man Peter Parker and his friends came over for a party night away!
While a few games were ongoing in earning Spider-Man stickers, some kids get themselves temporary airbrush tattoo and face painting by the friendly crews onboard.
(STORYTELLING & CRAFTS WITH SPIDER-MAN)
Spider-Man will join the Christmas storytelling to make sure that everyone gets a good night’s sleep and dream like a superhero. On our trip, Spider Gwen was our bedtime friend at the storytelling session! It ended with kids earning more Spider-Man themed stickers after a few rounds of questions & answers from the host!
Other Spider-Man themed activity includes art & craft session during the daytime – sadly we woke up late on the 2nd morning and missed this!
(MOVIES & CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION)
Spider-Man Craze on Genting Dream doesn’t end in our cabin as we got to watch past Spider-man movies on our cabin’s TV.
Or, if you prefer to catch it on the big screen liked us, there are also screening of Spider-Man: Homecoming and other movies at the main lobby! During Christmas month, you could also be one of the lucky few to celebrate Christmas with Spider-Man, who will don Santa‘s hat and lead his troop of little helpers to roam all over the cruise ship bearing gifts.
OTHER KIDS FRIENDLY RECREATION

Seriously! No lack of activities for kids onboard this giant ship, from a fun-filled arcade room to Little Panda kids club on deck 16, to glowing bowling alley located within the nightclub mini 9-hole putting course to scaling the rock wall and the unbeatable fun on their Waterslide Park and pool. Not forgetting you get to meet the beautiful mermaid Kat and learn how to be a merman onboard!

Mid-course to Surabaya, we ditched Noah at the Little Panda Kids Club for a good (max) 2 hours while we went back to the cabin to take naps! Say hello to Parenting! The kids club also held culinary sessions in various restaurants/timings – you can find sushi making, cookie baking, and ice cream making workshops all priced at sg20+!

Being the foodie, mummy signed Noah up for sushi making, and parents were allowed to stay beside them while they learned from the master chef! The final product became mummy’s yummy lunch! A goodie bag, chef hat, and ingredients were provided at the start of the session – it was heavy and we found the whole set of cutleries with bowls well packed inside!

We even joined in the cruise program – art & craft to make ourselves a star garnet for our Christmas tree from scratch!
EAT
(Umi Uma/ Japanese specialty restaurant)
Umi Uma offers more than just sushi & sake bar, there are options for Teppanyaki and Korean BBQ to cater to guests who are looking for live demonstrations from the talented master chef in front of a large steel grill. We had the menu selections from Ocean catch (Seafood) to Turf & Surf (Beef) pairing with fried rice, vegs and savory desserts!
