Adding on another staycay to our family bucket list, we finally get to head back to the 5-Star Luxury hotel where we wed 6 years ago. Located at the heart of the arts and cultural districts of Bugis and Bras Basah, InterContinental Singapore have plenty to offer this year end – specially those with kids!

Ok, even my husband was looking forward to this one!

From experiencing the couple suite years back, we now got ourselves a different kind of suite that comes with an interesting concept for the little guests that will come onboard. Even you will agree that what we are about to share has more than enough activities to fill our hearts up for a 3 days 2 nights stay! Embark on this family adventure with us featuring the newly launched Family First Package!

InterContinental Singapore has always been a luxurious classic that sits at the melting pot of cultures and shopping haven. Main reason why we have chosen this lovely hotel for our wedding was the rich culture of the signature Peranakan vibes and unique appeal. We had an abundance of wonderful memories created here, and we are hoping to experience more this time with our 3 kids in tow!

What proof to be one of our favourite luxurious stay, begins from the excellent service at checking in. Without the need to make an actual request leaves great impression for guests liked us. Usually, you will see us either requesting for *late check out or early check in, together with an extra bed, and for shopping mall closing timing.

However, this time, without me even asking for any of the above, we got all that arranged by the hotel! Our check-in was fuss free and we merely waited for a few minutes for our card key. Our *late check outs, family suite and baby cot were all ready for us. (*subject to availability)

Basking in our excitement on a weekday staycay, we couldn’t wait less to head to our family suite in a jiffy (do check out our IGStories on our stay day – to see the actual day moments). Once we reached our floor level on 4th the similar elegant scent from the Lobby greeted us as we opened our room door.

Our jaw dropping moment lasted a few minutes at the sight of the kids area. It was amazing!!

FAMILY SUITE WITH BUNKBEDS, SLIDE & A TEEPEE!

What immediately caught our sight were the two sets of wooden bunkbed decorated with a Safari theme bed canopy. Joint together with a slide in between plus a woodland teepee and a life size Giraffe! The room was mind blowing and we could totally imagined how our boys will react when they come after school!

Decked with a Dino themed quilt and fluffy pillows that looks right out of an IKEA catalogue, we loved how vibrant the colours contrast against the timeless elegance family suite! Our boys went gaga over the entire set up the moment they stepped into the room, went on a climbing and sliding frenzy. Lost count of the times they chased each other around and played hide & seek behind the canopy’s cover.

Best part was that for my husband and I, we managed to enjoy our peace in the other interconnected room, (just a room with no doors opposite) well rested on one of the best hotel beds in Singapore.

Not forgetting the littlest one too got her baby cot prepared with baby sized pillows and a blankie where she needed for a good nap.

FAMILY FIRST PACKAGE

To add on this incredible staycation, we decided we could skip any sort of outdoor activity such as swimming (need to prebook slots) or shoppings but to relish in their Family First Package which came with lists of attractive and fun perks for the little ones.

KIDS AMENITIES

Did we mentioned that they have tons of kids amenities prepared for the kiddos under the Family First package – we found kiddy size bathrobes, mini room slippers, adorable kids bathing amenities, a toilet stool, children sized wooden table with chairs perched right in front of the digital Tv with Channels that kids can entertain with. (good news, daddy and mummy got our own Tv as well, so no need to fight with the kiddos!)

After we settled the kids, unpacked for the day, we received a lovely set of welcome gift that comes in time for tea time. It was beautifully done dessert set from the hotel to delight the sweet tooth – we say yummy chocolates, cakes, marshmallows, and some of the local favourite pastries such as kueh and bean paste desserts!

FREE FLOW ICE CREAM

And soon after getting used to what was available in the room, it was nap time for everyone! Hate to admit it was really difficult to make everyone sleep at the same timing, we did managed to get some rest before we make our way down for our free flow ICE CREAM treats of the first day! We had to head down to the Lobby Lounge to grab the cute little cups of in house made ice creams with flavours of Choco mint, Red bean and Nuts about you!

Ice creams station began from timing 1:30pm till 5:30pm, which you can either bring it up to the room, or dine at the Lounge.

THREE-COURSE FAMILY DINNER

Inclusive of this package were a set of dinner to be chosen from either restaurants Man Fu Yuan or Ash & Elm, and we need to do pre-booking for this as well. We went down to Ash & Elm at 630pm, and were promptly served their pre-fixed menu. Kids made their choices from the Planet Trekkers Kids Menu that offers varieties of desserts and drinks. Not sure about you, but warmed up buns just tugged my heartstrings as it reminds me of travelling on business class flights.

We were served a scrumptious 3-course set meal that comes within the Family First Package – Mushroom Essence Soup with Truffle Chantilly, Seafood Linguine ( shellfish broth, prawns, squids, clams and capers!) and their signature carrot cake with berries Gelato! What impressed us most would be their kids menu (11am to 10pm) that had several varieties to chose from. With no doubts, we got the kids a set of Yummy mini beef burgers and Chinese Fried Rice with Chicken!

For little ones who enjoy more selections you can add on their tomato soup and broccoli trees with butter – definitely going to fill their tummies with goodness before bed! From which you can see, meals are flexible, we requested to have the desserts sent up to our rooms before we start to prepare for lights out!

BREAKFAST FOR 2 ADULTS & 2 CHILDREN

Next early morning, our breakfast we decided to dine at Ash & Elm as I really love their free flow buns. Mine was their Morning Booster that comes with poached egg, mushroom with bacons. My husband being the more local flavour lover, went for their Taste of Singapore, which you can see comes with Chicken Congee, Kaya & Butter Toast, Dim Sum basket of Siew Mai, Prawn Dumpling, Vegetarian Dumpling!). Very delicious!

My boys were offered the Kids breakfast menu (730am – 1030am) from a selection of Banana Pancakes and Maple Syrup and Rainbow Fruit Skewers with flavoured yoghurt!

Impressively, every dish was delectable and flavourful! Portion was perfect for each of us. Even the plates were oven warm served with the dish we picked.

IN-ROOM BREAKFAST

Having to try out dining in, the last morning, we decided to room in so the kids don’t need to wake early. Really grateful for whoever invented room-ins, this has got to be the best hotel service to be invented! Who would have thought that breakfast in bed would be such a great idea! No need to worry about the kids taking too long or running around. We had a great time just taking our own sweet time relishing in the most important meal of the day!

IN-ROOM MOVIE NIGHT WITH MILKSHAKES & POPCORNS

Movie night with the kids in the Family First Package was yet another must do when you staying at InterContinental Singapore because it comes with free flow milkshake and popcorns! On top of able to chose their favourite DVD movies, my boys were having the time of their stay indulging in the delights offered! No prize for guessing what movies they picked because Frozen and Moana forever!

MAKING MEMORIES: WORK LATER, FAMILY FIRST

Even until now, when we talked about our experience of this stay, my boys still can’t forget how much fun we had. On the last day of stay, they asked if we could ever go back again. Personally, staycations may be consider work for us but seeing how happy the boys were, simply enjoy a good laugh, a good meal and a good stay is worth every moment. The kind of simple happiness that will be dearly missed once they grow up.
