Want to know what the future holds for the new generation? Imagination turns into reality – Doodle a marine creature and see it swim on a virtual aquarium? Build cars and transform into a three-dimensional vehicle scooting around town? Spanning over 1500-square-metre wide space, visitors get to experience the future world at the new permanent gallery tucked in the basement of the ArtScience Museum.
We curated the 15 highlights of the state-of-art digital universe down at Marina Bay Sands. An immersive of family friendly activities and experience awaits you to visit and explore at FUTURE WORLD: WHERE ART MEETS SCIENCE.
Co-collaborate with a Japanese award-winning art collective, teamLab, the exhibition – Future World is Singapore’s largest interactive digital playground. With 15 digital installations that fuse modern art and cutting edge technology brings an exciting journey of discovery through four thematic zones – Nature, Town, Park and Space.
NATURE
Bond with the natural world in the first zone, digitally.
1. Flutter of Butterflies Beyond Borders
2. Ever Blossoming Life II – A Whole Year per Year, Dark
3. Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together – A Whole Year per Year
WHAT:
Visitors get to step into a garden of everlasting luminous flowers carpeting the floors and lining walls in the “NATURE” zone, where butterflies gather in places where flowers bloom and wither. The stunning installation evolves endlessly throughout the year with the four different seasons, a certain that no visits will be the same. Be blown away in this dark nevertheless beautifully lit room with 3 installations simultaneously co-existing together.
4. 100 Years Sea Animation Diorama
WHAT:
From season change to effects of climate change, visitors get to lay back on the beanbags in this zone and watch a faster version and more intense experience of 100 Years Sea in 10 mins. It uses a wide 20 meters screen which the rising sea eventually swallows the viewers. If you are looking to zen out your mind for a good 10 mins, pick a spot and stretch those legs.
TOWN
Glide or crawl thru miniature tunnel into a bustling zone of Town where there are 5 installations to keep both the adults and kids busy interacting in the shared setting of an urban city.

6. Sketch Town | Sketch Town Paper Craft
WHAT:
Taking up a large digital wall in the center of the TOWN zone you’ll spot famous landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion and the Singapore Flyer depicting a fictitious town based on Singapore. Visitors can put their hands into work and create your own town landmarks by coloring in paper drawings of buildings, cars, planes, and even fantastical vehicles like spaceships and UFOs. Then scanning it onto the digital wall to join the other doodles.
The fun continues with Sketch Town Paper Craft, which turns your 3D digital drawings into physical paper craft models.
7. Connecting! Train Block
WHAT:
At Connecting! train blocks, you can turn blocks play into a virtual urban planning. By moving the wooden blocks around the table, tracks and roads will appear to connect and keep the traffic flowing.
8. Media Block Chair
WHAT:
Get creative when you stack and connect blocks together that glow and change color, this oversized high-tech blocks will “communicate” with each other with every movement from your artwork.
9. A Table Where Little People Live
WHAT:
A Table Where Little People Live lies a tribe of the cute miniature people projected onto a table. They will be walking, jumping, sliding, hopping and generally paying little attention to the world outside. Visitors can then move blocks, cups and plates, objects around to interact with them.
PARK
Away from the bustle of city life, and hopped right over to the third zone – PARK welcomes families to play together by connecting physical activity and digital technology.
10. Universe of Water Particles
WHAT:
Enjoy watching hundreds of thousands of digital water particles spectacular centerpiece, Universe of Water Particles – a seven-metre tall virtual waterfall.
11. Create! Hopscotch for Geniuses
WHAT:
Create your own Hopscotch through digital stepping stones and have a land on them which trigger off beautiful colours and sounds that reverberate throughout the space.
12. Light Ball Orchestra
WHAT:
In this surreal playpen, bounce the multicolored oversized balls which will chime and change color when visitors touch it, to let the toddlers enjoy the fun there is also an area specially designed for the little ones.
13. Sketch Aquarium
WHAT:
Create drawings of sea creatures and free them into the virtual ocean. Visitors can even feed the busy fishes by touching the fish bags on the screen.
14. Story of the Time When Gods Were Everywhere
WHAT:
Story of the Time When Gods Were Everywhere is a digitally projected world, whereby touching the Japanese and Chinese characters it transforms into a nature element, without one being repeated itself.
SPACE
Dance with the stars, and walk into the crystal universe in this last installation.
15. Crystal Universe
WHAT:
This crystal universe is a 4-D Vision technology that consists of 184,200 LED lightsand a pathway to walk through it. Visitors can experience astrophysical phenomena such as planets, galaxies and even gravitational waves just by responding to mass and motion. Use your smart device to change the fabric of the universe.
