Our ears are all out for all kids friendly happenings in town, and recently we’re all thrilled for a newly launched kids-themed rooms along Victoria Street! Liked us, If you have a penchant for the multicultural sight of Singapore and love exploring the streets, Village Hotel Bugis by Far East Hospitality is the perfect staycation accommodation where you should bring your kids this weekend or June Holiday.
It’s perched in the Arab Street and Kampong Glam enclave, and a mere stone’s throw away from Bugis Village and Little India. The location right opposite Haji Lane where hippies love the small boutique outlets stocked with fashion labels otherwise not found in the Singapore malls. Yet, In case you need to find retail chains, Bugis Junction and Bugis+ shopping centres are a 5-minute walk away. Public transport is also a plus point here, with Downtown Line (Blue) launched alongside with EastWest Line (Green), you are literally connected to anywhere in Singapore from the luxury shopping haven in Orchard road to even Botanic gardens!
Our checking in was a smooth ride to the fifteen Floor where we experience the specially customised kids theme room in Village Hotel Bugis which was formerly known as Landmark Village Hotel. Upon entering our room we were utterly impressed by the ocean blue wallpaper with Disney Carz motifs, a King Sized bed, and a lovely foldable bed for the kids!
The unique kids-friendly design was a perfect (guilty, ourselves who used to think this as just a Jaded hotel, we were so wrong!), with fluffy cushions, adorable pillows, puppet dog and carpet with flying rabbit to lighten up the spirit of our little ones (which they did!), extending to the toilet amenities; kids sized bath soap and shampoo, powder, toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton buds and even body oil! The kids had their own sweet time, exploring every part of the room discovering all these little surprise Village Hotel Bugis prepared for them while we went down to their pool for a look!
The Outdoor pool is located on level 5 which flaunts a great ambience for event spaces and gatherings. This is where we had our brekkie the next morning by the pool which we had a choice of either dine-in at The award-winning Hainanese cuisine restaurant if you prefer to sample a more local taste buffet at Mooi Chin Place on level 3 with porridge & veg, char siew pau and curry chicken etc or you can swing over to indulge in an international breakfast of Western, Asian, Indian and Mediterranean influences at The Landmark Restaurant lovely tuck by the pool!
The LandMark Restaurant features a large pool terrace and indoor dine-in area with stunning Mediterranean influences decor.
Mooi Chin Restaurant, on the other hand, offers Singapore’s authentic delights with a must try for legendary Hainanese pork chop and not forgetting its Hainanese Chinese rice well known by the locals. As long you show your room key you may choose between both restaurants for your breakfast options.
Facilities are well-equipped within Village Hotel Bugis,on the seventh floor we found the 24 Hours modern Fitness room as well as a coin-operated laundry room for any ironing or laundry needs.
After our trip around the hotel, it was tempting not to head out to the streets (though Village Hotel Bugis is linked to a 3-storey shopping mall, which provides mainly travel agent needs and simple convenience neccessities), and we went straight to Haji Lane to hunt for the real gem!
