Orchard Rendezvous Hotel: Botanical Themed Family Room Staycation Review

Mid May, we looked around Singapore’s main shopping stretch and we found a particular hotel that offers a wide span of space for relaxing and comfort, highly rated as being one of the most economical hotels along Orchard Road! Together with the blend of local culture and unique modern charm, this refurbished hotel that inherited a breed of beautiful orchids turns out to be the oasis of its own in the city!

Ever since this hotel underwent a facelift that had the former Orchard Parade Hotel makeover to the present Orchard Rendevouz Hotel, it has been welcoming a change of crowd from the travellers to more local family to try out their family staycation package.

Family with more kids are now welcome to bunk into the (even our kids’ approved it) sizable family room that comes with a wide-spaced balcony. The entire room spans over 50-60 sqm, which is comparatively over 2 times more spacious than the residing hotels around. Additionally, their very own engaging children’s amenities, swimming pool, and the hotel’s very own special botanical garden totally won our hearts over even on one night stay!

The convenience of being on the main shopping belt and a stone thrown away to various entertainment centers absolutely made this revamped hotel a gem to be discovered amidst the other luxury staycation options around.

ENTER INTO FLORAL SCENTED LOBBY

Refreshed with new interiors inspired by our very own Singapore Botanic Garden, pots of lush greenery accessories were peeking away at every nook and cranny of the refurbished hotel, Orchard Rendezvous Hotel offers a breathe of fresh air with the lovely florals dotted around.

The moment we stepped foot into the lobby, we felt like we had entered into an oasis of blossoms. To our surprise, even their staff has floral-accented uniforms, which made the experience of staying in a city less urbanized.

Don’t miss out on the Ficus Benjamina tree – we heard that this is one that is native to Asia and prevalent in Singapore.

Conveniently, we are at the ideal starting point to explore Singapore’s iconic shopping street. So the location was a plus point for those who are looking to shop away!

FAMILY ROOM WITH BUNKBEDS

Do you spend more time in the hotel than heading out? We are! With two children in tow, we always make sure to make full use of the spacious rooms for the night. We loved fluffy hotel beds and pillows, getting meals delivered to our doorsteps and the convenience of not having to tidy up after the kids made a mess!

We had the choice to pick through the variety of the family rooms available. It comes in a variety of beds pairing – you get either a king & single bed or one king-sized & one sofa bed. Additionally, you can also request for a king-sized bed with a bunk bed. Suitable for families of 4 just liked us!

All the different allocation of family rooms offers a living room and dining area with no costs more than $260 per night which is considered one of the most affordable and cost worthy rooms you can find in town! (I mean, LOOK AT THE SPACE)

The balcony boasts of wide-open space for guests who needed more space to chill out with families or friends.

Even the bathroom was built with a separate showering and bathing area. One for standing wash another to soak in the bubble bath to ease the day’s tension away! Decked in white marble, we loved how this space was well designed and utilized to easily fit in more people at the same time. For any parent’s convenience, we are glad that we had ample space to get both kids washed up at the same time!

Using the floral-scented vegetable soap, we managed to have a nice bubbly bath before we send the kids to bed that night. As an advocate for environment saving, we always make the effort to only use the soap bar instead of liquid bottles, as the wastage of bottle soaps is much higher than soap bar which the packaging can be easier recycled.

The soap had one of the most floral scented smells we ever used. Even so now, we wished we have packed some of the leftover back home to use it!

GET BUSY WITH BIZZIE BOX

After check-in to our family room, the first thing our kids noticed was this engaging kids amenities box provided to those who have children. Our kids enjoyed the coloring, drawing, stickering and even used the handmade telescope to explore the room. Then our request for the blackboard came promptly, while I went down to check out their newly refurbished club lounge for adults only.

They played drawing and guessing games with what they were given in the BIZZIE BOX.

This blackboard is only available upon request and availability. We even received some handy reusable bags to segregate the outwear, daily clothes, shoes and the various bottles for a getaway.

Children amenities offered were kids’ toothbrushes, toothpaste, and there are even kids’ hangers, to make sure the little guests are as comfortable and as important as possible!

Noah took no seconds to climb up to the top of the bunk bed and got cosy on his abode of the night.

CLUB LOUNGE

No kids are allowed, so to ensure the privacy and to keep the volume down in their CLUB LOUNGE which is suitable for 18 years old and above to enter.

Food canapes are readily prepared for guests whose feeling peckish at odd hours.

Totally got addictive to these tantalizing canapes and juices, which my husband and I took a turn to come down just to have a bite at their mouth-watering snacks – there were salad, cheese, pizza, salmon and baked mushroom!

Club guests have exclusive access to the newly refurbished Club Lounge, which offers all-day light refreshments, as well as canapés and free-flow evening cocktails from 6-8 pm.

OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL

During our weekday stay, we had the entire outdoor pool to ourselves. Looking up to the bright blue and cloudless sky, we only spend 30mins at the pool. The noon sun was blazing hot, and we couldn’t stay long as the wind gets colder as well.

The swimming pool area at Orchard Rendevous Hotel includes a few event holding and wedding area. Plenty of space to accommodate a large number of guests.

GARDEN BY THE POOL

The first thing we discovered among these decorative blossoms around, we can’t help to notice a one in a million – particular orchid hybrid specially commissioned by the hotel – Vanda Orchard Rendezvous.

BREAKFAST AT MODESTO’S

Being the only international dining area in the hotel, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast at Modesto’s from 6.30 am to 10.15 am for breakfast!

12 pm to 1 am, Sundays to Thursdays
12 pm to 2 am on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of Public Holidays!

Modesto offers a wide range of Italian wood-fired pizza and homemade pasta.

We were literally spoilt for choice – considering the variety of food offered were local menus such as Chinese porridge with condiments, french toast, spring rolls, sausages, and even prata and curry!

The kids were definitely well fed before we even get to check out from our lovely room!

OTHER FACILITIES IN THE HOTEL

if you happened to break a nail or needed that brush or polish, Nailgasm located by the Lobby offers express gel from $36 to luxury spa manicure for a cost of $98 ++. There’s even a traditional tailor shop if you needed to look for a suit or cheongsam.

Wind down the day with a cold beer or glass of wine at the snazzy Lobby Bar.

Overall, we reckoned that even a local staycation can be as pocket-friendly for families with kids more than 2 or 3, and getting into a whole new oasis of being a floral centric hotel can be quite rewarding and eye feasting even as a local!
